Taste of Umbria
Umbria is a region
situated in central Italy. It is less famous than the neighboring Tuscany, but
it is no less beautiful. Umbria is often called Italy's Green Heart on account
of its location and presence of many forests. If you like the landscape of
hills, vineyards, olive groves, and charming medieval towns (Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto), Umbria is the perfect destination for you.

Gourmets will also certainly be satisfied with what this region offers. The cuisine is based on healthy products, often coming from own crops or forests. Truffles, which are very popular in Umbrian cuisine, are added to many dishes like pasta (spaghetti, tortellini), cheese (ricotta), or even scrambled eggs. When it comes to cured meat and cheese, favourites delicacies are Porchetta (famed roast pork) and Pecorino (semi-soft cheese made with sheep’s milk with decisive flavour). As for meat, people reach for a game like a boar or a hare. Truly recommended Umbrian pasta is Strangozzi made only of flour and water, without eggs. It's served with truffles or tomato sauce. We cannot forget about an important Italian product - olive oil. In Umbria, it's flavour is rather strong because the oil is often extracted from Moraiolo olives. Last but not least, it’s good to drink a sip of wine which will enhance the taste of many dishes. In this region, you can choose from a wide range of wines, both white (Orvieto, Colli Martani Grechetto) and red ones (Montefalco Sagrantino).
