Stravedamento - an interesting weather phenomenon
Venice is undoubtedly one of the most famous and representative cities in Italy. It is located in the northeastern part of the country by the Adriatic sea and brings to mind primarily gondolas sailing on canals and St Mark's Square. The city is not associated with the mountains at all.

However, in recent days, Venice has been photographed against the background of majestic, snow-capped Dolomites' peaks. It is important to note that the mountains are located about 100 km from the lagoon but in the photograph, they seem to be at your fingertips. This unique photo was possible to make due to favourable weather conditions so-called stravedamento, which in Venetian means "to see something that appears not to be there". It occurs around December and January, after heavy rains and strong winds that helps to clean the air. But we cannot forget that to make such a unique photo a suitable camera is needed.

It is worth mentioning that this phenomenon occurred also in Cracow, Poland. This city was photographed with the beautiful Tatra Mountains in the background. Some people said that it was a photomontage but now we know it wasn't. It's a pity that here in Poland we don’t have such a charming name for this phenomenon as Italians have.
